Ring Feeder for feeding horses in field or yard
Horses, ponies, donkeys & mules are grazing animals and it is important that we simulate these conditions when feeding hay, haylage etc either indoors or out.
Natural feeding position (on or near to the ground):
- ensures correct alignment of the jaw when eating thus helping to avoid many dental problems
- aids respiration since the airways and sinuses are able to drain
- helps the back muscles and ensures correct development of youngsters
- stops incorrect muscle from developing under the neck (ewe neck) and helps to form a correct topline, which in turn helps your horse to work in the correct outline
This 4-bay galvanised tombstone ring feeder has been specially developed for feeding equines and is made in Wales. (6-bay galvanised ring feeder also available)
Diameter - 5ft (breaks down into 2 halves with pins or nut + bolt)
Skirt (solid) - 2ft high
Tombstones - at 20" or 23" high, 26" apart with a bar in centre of each tombstone
Total weight - approx 55 kg
If you are local to our Bitless Bridle Equestrian Centre near Talsarn, Lampeter you can see the ring feeders in use on our Paddock Paradise natural horse management system.
Although designed specifically for use with round bales, we have found that these ring feeders can be used very successfully with mini-hestons too; wastage of hay can be kept to an absolute minimum whether using round or oblong bales by using one of the XXL haynets over the top of the hay and attached to the base of the tombstones.
